My name is Alaysia Toney and I am a rising senior at Longwood University. I am a Communications Studies major with a concentration in Digital Media. After graduation, I plan to attend another university to get my master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. With this degree, I plan to become a Multimedia Entertainment Reporter in the future. My overall goal is to be a host for my own talk show held in New York, Georgia, or California within the next 4-5 years. 

I am currently interning for a republican candidate running for 87th district House of Delegates, Greg Moulthrop. He is highly known for the organization 'Moulthrop for Delegate Campaign' which is where all of the important political viewpoints are found. However, while Greg is not running a campaign that is entirely negative against his opponent, it is important to gather data on his opponent to use in research for my communication and outreach efforts that appropriately contrast Greg with his opponent.  This requires research and analytical skills and compelling updates that are short and easily digestible for followers on Greg’s social media platforms to persuade voters to vote for Greg on Election Day. Throughout this internship, my skills have developed and improved. Skills that I have gained would revolve around effective communication, research, and editing.
